Now on iTunes™

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

I was very excited this morning to notice that Made By Robot is now available through the iTunes music store. I still have some tweaking that’s needed on the Binary Album (it appears as a partial album), but all the tracks are available for purchase now there.

Something from the new album which is tentatively being called Penguin. There are some interesting ideas being thrown about for this release, including the possibility of limited run vinyl, but I need to see how the final thing works out. Hope you enjoy this sneak peek, this is one of the tracks that might not make it onto the album, but you never know.

Tuesday Afternoons – Made By Robot

Something from the new album which I’ve been working on for the last few months, should be ready in the next month. We have 18 tracks currently ready for master and mix, will probably trim those down to 12-14. This is a rough cut, pretty much a live recording with no mastering, but I hope you enjoy it.

Muxtape

Very excited to be part of the first open invites from Muxtape.com, I just setup the initial page, with the whole of the Binary album ready for streaming, I’ll be adding almost all of my freely available content to there as I move forward. I’m very excited about muxtape and what they could lead to as a simple music focused platform for musicians. I’m really loving the page constraints, I think it will help keep the site focused, and I’m sure people will find imaginative things to do with the pages. Swing by Made By Robot on muxtape and don’t forget to checkout the other great artists on there.

double

Very different to my usual stuff, almost IDM meets Gabba, consider this one very experimental.

Some new work in progress, this is a very rough live recorded track. More coming soon. The excerpt and inspiration for this is from Japanese Lullaby by Eugene Field.

Sleep, little pigeon, and fold your wings,–
Little blue pigeon with velvet eyes;
Sleep to the singing of mother-bird swinging–
Swinging the nest where her little one lies.

Monomeet 2009

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

I had the absolute pleasure of attending the 2009 Monomeet in Princeton at the weekend. Although I didn’t perform, I was able to see some amazing sets by some truly talented individuals. Along with meeting Brian Crabtree (creator of the Monome), Edison (finger ninja of the Monome) and a huge bunch of the east coast monome community. It really was an amazing day. Videos of the event are up on Vimeo at Monomeet 2009. Finally a big thank you to those who arranged the day, and made it possible for us all to meet at the Terrace Food Club, in Princeton – it was a total experience.

With 14+ inches of snow this morning, I thought I’d make a snow mix of Binary 10, which I’ve just finished. The Binary album is almost finished, with 10 tracks in the bag and only 2 or 3 needing some subtle tweaking to get them finished off. I’m aiming for mid to end of this week to have it finished, behind schedule for the RPM Challenge, but unfortunately “Monomeet 2009″ in Princeton this weekend ate up a good days worth of work. This track sounds nothing like Binary 10, aside from the intro.

Binary 8

binary8

It’s been a little quiet for the last few weeks, as I’ve been feverishly working on the ten tracks for the Binary album, as part of the RPM challenge. Not sure how things are progressing, but I do know I’m very quickly running out of time t-minus 5 days. This is the very first recording of a 1 take version of 8, so this one will probably get some serious rework after I’ve listened to it on the way to work over the next few days. I hope you enjoy it.
